Traded in my old pure plastic kettle for this Kalorik model after liking the look of it on a few of those one-day-sale sites. Not shockingly, Amazon had it for $20 cheaper than the "sale" price on those sites. Have had it about a month now and use it daily. Water is piping hot in no time (and stays hot for a while), and it is quite a bit quieter than the plastic kettle I had previously. It has the normal kettle functions - automatic shutoff, minimum water level requirements, etc. So far, no real buildup inside the kettle, which is great, but I'll use the standard vinegar method to clean it when it inevitably appears.
I'm not militant about the all-stainless-steel thing, and there is a small amount of plastic exposed to the water during the heating process on the water meter, but I generally feel much better about the level of BPA in this water versus my old kettle which was like a little BPA-filled plastic party. I did find a few sites that indicated that the plastic on the meter is the BPA-free polypropylene, which would make sense as this kettle is made by a Belgian company and from what I understand that type of plastic is more commonly used in Europe, but I can't absolutely confirm that information as it did not indicate what kind of plastic was used in the manual or on the packaging. I would encourage those more concerned with this to dig deeper or contact Kalorik.
In either case it was a major upgrade for me. It has a nice, sleek look and matches my appliances. I do like the nice blue light that is illuminated when the kettle is on, too. No buyer's remorse here!
