The teapot is absolutely beautiful; I love the handle, and I love that the teapot stands tall instead of being short and squatty and round. It's very sharp looking and yet still classy. The teapot truly does hold 16 ounces, and is indeed perfect for ONE person, but I realized when it arrived that 16 ounces is smaller than I had been expecting. For reference, 16 oz is the size of a "medium" cup of coffee or tea at most coffeeshop chains. This teapot really is the size of a medium cup. You can get two 8 ounce cups of tea out of it, but Americans are very rarely satisfied with just 8 ounces of a warm drink. Most ceramic mugs hold 12 ounces, so unless you use delicate 8 ounce teacups (which some people delight to do), you could not serve two people tea in mugs. I gave this teapot to my twin sister who lives by herself, and she enjoys making tea in it almost on a daily basis. It is a regular part of her routine. Enjoy!
